How Perfume Is Made

After the essential oils are removed and collected, the hard work of making perfume has only just started. Then, they are carefully mixed together using a set recipe. Most scents are made up of 10 to 20% perfume oils that are dissolved in alcohol and small amounts of water. The amount of alcohol in a mixed liquid determines whether it is a cologne, a perfume, or an eau de toilette. Perfume has the best smell because it has up to 40% of essential oils. Eau de toilette has up to 15% essential oils, and cologne has about 10%.
